
Kia recently launched its flagship SUV, the EV9 and the Carnival in the country. Now the brand is planning to introduce more models in the coming year, focussing on its portfolio expansion. Today let’s talk about the upcoming Kia cars in India!
Upcoming Kia Cars – Kia Syros

Kia has recently confirmed that the new Syros SUV will be making its way to the country. The new model has been spied a couple of times, revealing its boxy design and some features. The Syros will be placed between the Sonet and Seltos in Kia’s lineup and offer a premium yet rugged appearance. While the company has shared teasers of the upcoming SUV, it has not revealed the launch date. We expect Kia to unveil the new SUV before the end of 2024 with deliveries starting early 2025.
The new Kia Syros will get maximum premium features like ventilated front seats, sunroof, bigger touchscreen, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, digital instrument cluster and more in its package. Powering the Kia Syros will be the 1.2-litre NA petrol engine, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine mated to manual and automatic gearboxes. The company also plans to launch the Syros EV in the country towards the end of 2025/ early 2026 in the country.
Kia Carens Facelift & EV
The next model on the list is the Carens SUV, the SUV is currently due for an update in India. Said that, the brand is looking to introduce its facelift model with new exterior design and additional features on the inside. The facelift will likely come with a panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS and a 360° camera in its package. The facelift will carry no changes mechanically, it will continue with its 1.5-litre NA petrol, 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. The Kia Carens facelift is expected to be launched by mid 2025 in India.
Along with the facelift, Kia is also planning to launch an EV based on the Carens. The new model will share its similarities with the Hyundai Creta EV and is likely to get a 45 kWh battery pack. The Carens EV is already in works and has been spotted in India, The model will get EV specific changes like a closed-off grille, a new lighting signature, fresh wheels, low-resistance tyres on the outside. While the model is expected to offer rich cabin experience with loaded features. The Carens EV is expected to be priced a bit premium and will primarily rival the new BYD eMAX 7 in India.
Upcoming Kia Cars – Kia Sonet EV
Apart from the Carens EV, the brand is also planning to introduce the EV powertrain with its Sonet SUV in India. The new Sonet EV is expected to be launched by mid or end 2025. The model is expected to share its design and feature list with its ICE version alongside some EV specific changes. The brand has not disclosed any of its details, but we expect the model to get a 45 kWh battery pack with 450 km claimed range.
Once launched, the model will take on the likes of Nexon EV and Punch EV when launched.
Kia Seltos Hybrid
Concluding the list, we have the Kia Seltos hybrid. Kia is offering a plethora of engine and transmission options on its Seltos SUV, now the brand is planning to introduce a hybrid powertrain on this SUV. The hybrid powertrain is expected to replace the diesel engine. Kia is already working on electrifying the current 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine options in its lineup.
Talking about the launch, the new Hybrid model is expected to launch after the Kia Syros somewhere in 2025. Additionally, if this hybrid powertrain fetches demand, Kia could introduce this on Carens in the following years.
